1. How long have you worked for Hertfordshire County Council (HCC)?

I have worked for the council since September 2014 where I joined as a level 2 business apprentice after completing A levels.

2. Tell us about your current role

I currently work in the resourcing team in human resources (HR) as a HR officer overseeing recruitment for adult care services, mainly covering the recruitment for HCC's care homes and day services. This includes providing support on recruitment and attraction strategies, including the advertisement, branding, attracting and managing candidates experience throughout the recruitment process.

3.What roles have you been in since joining?

Once I had completed the level 2 business apprenticeship I went on to join the resourcing team in human resources as an assistant support officer where I was able to practically implement the learning I had gained through the apprenticeship. Following this, I was appointed to assistant HR officer where I supported the recruitment for adult care services for hard to fill roles such as social workers and occupational therapists. Throughout this time I worked towards completing the level 3 CIPD HR qualification which I successfully completed the following year.

4. What would you say to someone thinking about a career with  HCC?

If you are unsure on what you would like to do and university isn’t something that you are interested in, an apprenticeship is a great way to get into the working environment but still continuing to learn and getting paid at the same time.
