We're looking for people to safely transport adults with disabilities and older people to various locations across Hertfordshire.

 

 

  • £24,404 (£12.65 per hour) progressing to £24,790 (£12.84 an hour) pro rata for part time.
  • You'll be licensed to drive minibus-type vehicles with a full unrestricted D1 category licence.
  • You'll be a confident and safe driver.
  • You'll have a caring and professional approach.
  • You'll have experience of driving both manual and automatic vehicles.

 

About the different driving roles

 

Passenger Transport Driver

HertsLynx provides transport to residents in rural areas who need to travel to be able to access education, employment, and leisure activities.

Every day is different in this role involving working in shifts with different driving routes and some weekend working is required.

You will:

  • enjoy face to face interactions and build rapport with the public of all ages and backgrounds,
  • assist passengers with boarding and disembarking the vehicle, especially those with mobility challenges or disabilities.
  • be responsible for the vehicle ensuring that it is cleaned at the end of each shift, and to ensure any mechanical issues or maintenance is reported to the appropriate personnel
  • follow pre-prepared routes, ensuring timings are kept to schedule and passengers are transported safely and efficiently.

Dial-A-Ride and Relief Dial-A-Ride Drivers

Dial-a-ride bus

Do you want to help elderly and/or disabled people in your local community? In this role you will be responsible for providing a safe, friendly and reliable door to door transport service for people unable to access other public transport.

The objective of the post holder is to cover the regular driver when they are absent from duties, this could be countywide.

You will:

  • be responsible for transporting service users to various locations across Hertfordshire.
  • be responsible for collecting passenger fares and depositing cash.
  • assist passengers on and off the vehicle including wheelchair users
  • for relief driver roles, cover the regular driver when they are absent from duties, countywide

Driver Support Worker (adults with disabilities)

We're looking for people who will offer care and support to adults with a variety of abilities. You'll transport them to and from their homes to day services. 

The role will involve a degree of bending, crouching and kneeling.  Candidates should have the ability to meet the physical demands of the job role.

You will:

  • support people with and without mobility equipment in and out of vehicles. This may include the use of tail-lifts and ramps.
  • support people to take part in a range of activities on and off site
  • provide emotional and physical support, which may include supporting with personal care tasks.
  • carry out daily and weekly checks to ensure the vehicle is roadworthy 
  • complete manual handling tasks for people we support.

Driver Attendant and Relief Driver Attendant

Do you want to help older people in your local community? In this role you will be responsible for transporting elderly service users to and from their homes to day services in a safe and caring manner.

You will:

  • be responsible for transporting older people between their homes and day services in a safe and caring manner
  • be able to assist passengers on and off the vehicle including wheelchair users.

For relief driver roles, you'll cover the regular driver when they are absent from duties, countywide.

Driver Attendant (Schools)

Are you a compassionate and reliable driver looking to make a meaningful impact in your community? We are seeking dedicated individuals to join our team as drivers for children with special needs. 

Your role will be crucial in ensuring these children have a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable journey to and from school each day.

You will:

  • be responsible for transporting children with varying levels of complex and profound learning difficulties between home and school in a safe and caring manner. Their needs include severe autism, complex medical conditions, physical and mobility difficulties, as well as severe developmental delay
  • be able to assist passengers on and off the vehicle including wheelchair users.

For relief driver roles, you'll cover the regular driver when they are absent from duties.
