People with disabilities in Hertfordshire need people like you.
Our supported living and short breaks services support adults with various disabilities. Some have learning or physical disabilities and need high levels of physical care. Others can meet their own day to day needs but may have behaviours of concern, mental ill-health or just a need for support to get through their everyday lives.
You'll work in peoples’ own homes on our sites, to support them with:
- their basic daily needs
- personal care
- eating and drinking
- in some cases, moving and handling equipment (you would need to be physically able)
- keeping their homes clean
- managing their money
- taking their medication
- attending health appointments
- joining in with social and leisure activities at home and in their local community.
Our roles involve shift work on either days or nights, including weekends and bank holidays. Some roles require you to sleep in.
In our short breaks service, people rely on you to support them to enjoy their time away from home, while their carers have a well-deserved break.
Our teams provide excellent support and create opportunities for people to take part in a range of activities focussed on wellbeing, developing new skills and experiences, or maintaining old ones, and creating valuable relationships.
We support adults with physical and / or learning disabilities, older people and people with mental health problems or dementia.
Some of the people who use our services just need advice, guidance or emotional support, some need a caring and structured routine. Some people need physical support with almost everything and you will need to be able to provide this once you have received training. Others need Positive Behaviour Support to help them manage how they respond to things day to day.
In this role you will be many things to many people and no two days are the same.
