Safeguarding children

Hertfordshire’s Safeguarding Service includes an assessment team, multi-disciplinary family safeguarding teams, a children looked after team, multi-agency safeguarding hub and a joint child protection team.

Adoption and fostering

The adoption service provides permanent families for children and young people who can't live with their birth families. The fostering service provides placements for children looked after.

Residential and ARC Services

Provide homes for teenagers who aren't able to live with their families or foster carers. Made up of 7 homes across Hertfordshire, including 1 home specifically for disabled young people.

people with SEND and ensure their educational needs are met.

A specialist service for children with disabilities, young people, young adults and their families. They support people to be independent and take part in their community. The service supports young people and young adults until they're settled in to adult life.

We're looking for ...

  Youth Support Worker
Description: Every project will bring new challenges, and you could find yourself delivering programmes in independent living skills, supporting young people in staying away from gang culture, or offering guidance on sexual health. Benefitting from both initial and ongoing training, we will support you in achieving your inhouse qualification, Certificate in Youth Work Level 2, for which you will be paid.
Salary: £9.76 - £10.41 per hour
Hours: 7.5 hours per week (term time only. 3 evenings per week)

We're looking for ...

  Youth Support Worker in Charge
Description: Managing a small team of Youth Support Workers and volunteers, you will plan, deliver and evaluate engaging and educational group-work programmes on issues ranging from substance misuse and alcohol, to learning independent living skills. Working to understand service users’ interests and the challenges that they are facing in their lives, you will also work one-to-one with identified young people to help them access projects that will elevate their future prospects, and you will forge relationships with partner organisations that will enhance the work we are doing. 
Salary: £11.72 - £13.37 per hour
Hours: 18 hours per week (including 4 evenings during term time)

Education

Responsible for mainstream education, including school places, admissions and standards. It also covers finance and IT for the council's Children's Services and Herts Music Service.

Targeted youth support

The team provides the youth justice service, works to prevent family breakdown, safeguards young people who go missing, support homeless 16 and 17 year olds, and provides the Care Leaver Service (including Unaccompanied Asylum Seekers).
